Hey so just joined P & S and thought i'd drop a thread to say hello. Just moved down to Gulf Shores and learning the in's and out's of inshore fishing so I'm sure I'll be here a lot ;) Also, just thought I'd add that I went surf fishing for the first time yesterday and I'm hooked. Came back with a couple seatrout, and released a small hammerhead I pulled in. Not bad for a first time. Anyways hoping to get out in the morning and catch some pompano if anyone has any good tips. Hopefully be upgrading to a more serious reel and rod soon so any good suggestions for something less than a $100 would be awesome! Anyways ya'll take care!

Thanks for all the welcomes guys. Definitely will have to check into the Dick's deal, have to see if I can find one close. I know we have a basspro about half an hour or so away. Hmmmm.... On another note caught my first pompano and a couple stingrays yesterday. I must admit i'm terrified getting those rays off my line though. How do ya'll handle 'em? I had seen some stuff about cutting the line or flipping them over and putting something on the barb. Just threw the ice chest on the barb of a smaller one to take it out yesterday and popped the line on a pretty big one. Anyways off to the beach. Good fishing to you all!
