First of all, as a life long Red Sox fan, I am ssooooooo glad he's gone! As for the dreds, Torre already told him they needed to go last year, and well, you see who has more clout on that team. He still has the dreds!

I haven't seen where they were anything like a viagra type drug. What I heard on the MLB channel is the drug he took was a female hormone given to men to jumpstart their own body into making it's own testosterone. When a guy does steroids, his body gets the message to stop making natural testosterone because it is getting it from a different source. Thats why long time roids guys have the 'shrivle up and go away' problem with the "boys".:eek: In Manny's case, there is no indication he took any steroids, but by taking this female hormone, it increases the natural stuff his body makes on it's own.

I actually have to believe Manny when he says he didn't realize what he was taking was illegal. He's only a generation or two into walking upright, and I honestly think he had no idea of what he was taking. Think about it; Clemons, A-Roid, Canseco, Bonds, and the rest all took their illegal substances before the MLB started testing everyone. Manny can't be so stupid to knowingly take something knowing he was going to be tested. That is like Percy Harvin smoking dope just before the NFL combine, knowing everyone who walks in the door gets tested. Now THAT'S stupid!

Now Manny can be Manny all he wants and Cooperstown gets to miss out on another great player who puts himself above the game. As for Pujols, I can only hope he doesn't get nabbed for something. Baseball needs somebody who's great and clean!

LRJ - The drug is HCG, which according to a doctor they interviewed on ESPN radio is used for one of 2 things: 1) Medically for women with fertility problems or 2) by males trying to boost their testoterone levels after cycling off of steroids.

Manny and his PR team are saying that it was for "a personal health issue" (i.e. ED) and that he didnt know it was banned. The Dr. laughed off this excuse and said that any Dr. would know full well it was banned, Manny has MLB Drs. and a drug hotline at his disposal, and that he is confident that Manny took them to boost his levels of test. again.

The media is turning to Pujols now as the annointed savior, but would it shock anyone to find out he was on something? I mean, almost every Latin American player in MLB works out with and trains with Presinal in the offseason, the guy who was banned from all MLB teams/clubhouses/events/flights/etc due to his steroid connections
One glaring weakness in Mannys argument: Remember who was arrested in Tijuana with his gf trying to smuggle this SAME drug into the US undetected? Jose Canseco...

I really think he took it because he was coming down off roids and just rolled the dice like a dummy....

or he wanted to get busted so he didn't have to play until the end of the year even though he lost 7 mill, that ain't too much for him and he has been know to take time off by loafing anyway.

To say he was ignorant and his dr was too doesn't fly with me. I mean he couldn't ask his team dr if this substance was ok since this is the number 1 issue in baseball right now?
