My name is Brian Lockwood, aka "Jet Ski Brian". I have been jet ski fishing for about 8 years. Two years ago I decided to rig up a Yamaha SUV 1200, it is a four person pwc and the largest one made by yamaha from 1998-2004. I purchased a 2001 with 72 hours and have since put an additional 450 hrs on it. Last year I fished 120 times of which 70 of those times were from my jet ski. I live on the water in Poquoson, Va. and fish in the Chesapeake Bay, Offshore and Coastal Atlantic. A friend of mine told me about this site and I am very excited to have found it. I also have a website that I just started and is still in it's infancy jetskibrian.com. I am using it primarily as a blog to post my fishing reports and pictures. I have been posting on wwwtidalfish.com for about a year and a half and recently wwwatlanticanglers.com. I am looking forward to posting reports and learning more here also. Here are some pictures.

When I am going to anchor I carry a 2.5# danforth or a small wreck anchor I made. Luckily my Waverunner has over 115 gals of storage.

I have a range of 80-100 miles on a 21 gal. tank. The furthest I have gone offshore is 60 miles off of Rudee Inlet to the South Tower. It was a 128 mile roundtrip in which a buddy boat topped me off before going back in. I caught 12 Amberjack that day.

I might be able to get my fix with a set up like that. Do you ever get caught up in the weather and if so how does it handle in 4 to 5ft seas or more?

Yes I have been out in some "Sporty" conditions, probably 7-9 ft 35 knot winds offshore of Hatteras last year. We were 25 miles offshore at the Rockpile when a front came thru. It took two hours to get back. No fun. Thu SUV 1200 can take it pretty good, having instant throttle response on a pwc helps a lot going over sharp waves.

instant throttle response....I can see where I'd have more fishing stories than fish.

Honestly, it sure sheds new light on fishing!!! I think we should call it "Thinking outside the boat"!

Welcome to the site Brian! I've talked to you a couple times at the Owl Creek Ramp. I've seen some of your pics, and I always enjoy them.. Welcome to the site man!!!!

Almost forgot.. Here's a link to a website based in New Zealand http://jetskifishing.forumotion.net/.. At one point in time I was thinking about buying a ski for fishing, but I never went through with it. I haven't been to the site in a while, but the last time I was up there I found some photos with creative ideas for mounting electronics, coolers, etc., etc... Thought you might be interested. I know they'd love to read a couple of your fishing reports, see your photos, and trade ideas.... I'm sure you've already seen the site, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway..:fishing:
