Got a new cooler and plenty of PVC laying around the house. What would be the best way for me to attach the pipe so that I can use it to hold my rods?

Just a basic cooler with wheels. Will use for the pier so the stock wheels are fine. I was just trying to figure out the best way to attach pvc to it so that I can use it to hold my rods without the pvc coming off of it.

Thanks for any help

I'm assuming you mean hold the rods just to transport them on and off the pier? Not to use them as rod holders for actually fishing?

If so, there are many ways. Keep in mind, however, that most of them involve piercing the sidewalls of the cooler, which can effect it's efficiency. So be sure to seal any holes or cuts well with silicone sealant to reduce that problem.

For the maximum in strength, I would first attach a wooden board to the side or sides. I'd use a combination of adhesive and bolts for this. You can then use appropriately sized pipe clamps to mount the PVC to the board, with screws. I would imagine that on a typical wheeled cooler you could mount as many as three PVC holders on each long side.

While I was at it, I'd consider mounting a few screw-eyes in the board as well. You could then use bungee cords to lock your tackle box to the top of the cooler as you pulled it along.
