I just got the Spring 2004 catalog in the mail today.
Their newest product is a colapsable/telescoping surf rods. Availible in 10-, 12-, and 14-foot models, they appear to telescope down to about 3-4 feet.
I think they look pretty cool, but not too sure of their casting ability.

I wouldn't trust them...bad enough the fish at AI knock your rod down and drag it out into the ocean before you can get out of your chair ;)...imagine what would happen with one of those rods...

I saw something like that at a tackle fair the other night, no guides, just a small eye at the tip, to tie your line to, and then you use it like a bamboo rod. If that’s what you’re talking about I am going to pass on that one for my surf fishing trips!:barf:

Sandcrab,
I agree with you, not something I would spend my money on.
OBX Rookie,
What you are talking about are float poles, just a rod with a line tied to the end. These are full fishing rods.
Take a look:

And another new thing: How about those new Shimano Calcutta TE reels with a digital braking system. Forget the 525 Mag, soon it's going to be the Penn 525 XP :D

Ha!! :) Then it's guarenteed to blow up!!!:)
Those new Calcutta TE reels would be an expensive dunking. Aren't they over $300?
Hmmm...what's wrong with this picture: salt + sand + water + computer chip
If anybody needs a chip to control the braking, maybe they should stick to spinning gear.

OBX, I talked to the guy selling those rods. It’s a crappie rod, strictly for pan fish.
That Shimano is $499.99 and I doesn’t even have a cell phone!

C2H&G,
Over $300 dollars? Oh yeah. Try $300 + $200 (technically $199.99, but taxes ned to be added)
