Im looking for a 2 pice short heaver thats rated to toss 6-12oz with XHeavy action; in the 9-10ft range. It doesnt matter if it is a conventional or a Spinner.I'm going to use it for Black Drum and Tautog at the jetties.I wanna horse fish out of their homes.

Jeff,

That's overkill! Any 9' stick that can handle up to 3 oz should works for tog or drum off the jetties. I use a Tica 9' rated 1/2-3 oz and a Nautil with 30 lb test Stealth for all my jetty work and lure casting. Most I would go with is a 10' but still light enough to double as a surf rod...You will not have a need to cast 6-12 oz on the jetty IMHO...

Like the one I used for tuna fishing when I lived in San Diego.. It's 8'10" long, handles 20-40 lb test and up to 12 oz. I used it to sling 7 oz Krocodyles for feeding tuna, barracuda, and mackeral. It was made by Saber and has no reel seat just a long cork grip handle. It ran about $100. Look into the Saber models if that is what you really want - It is a conventional rod.

Yeah, that could work but,It would be better if it was near 10'.Conventional would be fine too.Considering your best heavier rods are Conventional.I think Sabers are a little on the bulky side.If Lamiglas makes one I might take it;they're known for not so bulky rods along with some others.I still prefer Spinners but a Conventional will work.

The beefstick is an awesome rod for the quality and the price.. you can get one for 20$$ and it has alot of a$$... but what ur lookin for is what I have just bought.. a stump heaver or to some a ol' hatteras heaver... im putting a sl50shx on it and fishing for shark.. not drum.. if u want them drum go for a Tica.. with a sl30sh or 525 mag.. my 2 cents tightlines..

Some guys at Bass Pro couldn't tell their a$$ from a hole in the ground... and actually the manager of Bass Pro asked me if I wanted a job there and I turned them down b/c of the driving distance...

Bonito,
THAT's HILARIOUS! Did you know BigJeff works at Bass Pro? That's who I was talking to in my post (I'd never direct mud at someone I don't know without provocation). Maybe BigJeff is one that doesn't know holes in the ground!

Have you tried the 12' Ticas? They're very slow action, beefy rods. Not like the Breakaways or Okumas or Sealines. Give one a throw. I'm considering using one paired up with a Slosh as my next heavy heaver.

They don't load that great, but they have a serious backbone. Now if you want a true telephone pole, talk to Digger about his Overman.

12' is too long but Sandcrabs Tuna Stick would be a better choice.Hows the 10' 4-8oz Oceanmaster?A 10'er is the longest rod I need for the Jetty.
