i was wondering what a good rod was for casting the gotcha plugs....i am most likely going to get a St.Croix spinning 6'6" to 7' rod but i dont know what a good spinning reel is for it. i was lookin at the abu garcia spinning ones but im not sure if thats a good combo.....(looking for a reel from 1-100$).....thanks

Get a Penn Spinfisher spinning reel. The Spinfisher that is rated for 10 lb. test is $80. Or, get a Fin-Nor Inshore spinning reel rated for 12 lb. test. I have a Fin-Nor on a 7' rod for plugging purposes and it works great and cast great (it has 6 BB in it I think.) Hope this helps.

Check out http://members.cox.net/files/heaver.htm Heaver's web page.I found it instructional regarding what you are asking.

A fast action rod really brings out the action in GotCha plugs and other crankbait-type lures such as Rapalas, ZoYuri, etc.

I have one fin nor spinning reel and another one on the way. I really like them. And you can get them really cheap online if you look around.
Anyway, I haven't heard very good things about Abu spinning reels. Stick to shimano, penn, daiwa, etc.
