Hickory Shad

Has anyone heard of a new state record for hickory shad being caught?
This may not be a pier and surf item but I have caught several hickory shad fishing piers in Dec. and Jan. at Topsail.
I've only heard it once so it may be another rumor....

I was talking to some buddies at the river yesterday that told of one over 4.5 lbs. Don't know if thats a record or not.
