Hey all, went fishing this weekend with some friends off the Kure Beach Pier... no luck. Friends caught a few skats.

I think I want to try and target some Red Drum soon. What all is needed? I read to use circle hooks so will I still have the basic bottom rig? I also read about a fish finger rig.. is that the same thing? Also, I have read in some local fish report they are being caught in the surf at wrightsville beach... could I just fish off the pier but cast in the surf area of the pier? When do a lot of these fish come in?

Ross Mt.,glad to hear you're out there weting a line.. ;) Yeap, that rig you have now will work and yes, fish the spots I suggested to you via e-mail on the pier. You should be able to catch small red drum(maybe even a bigone) and just about every other species by using the baits that have been suggested to you with that same rig you are using.. I'm not very familiar with the area you are fishing, but up here the drum will be here in force when water temps go above 58 degrees..
