Sorry to post this here, but I hope nobody minds.
It's a sad but inspirational story for me. It reminds me how unimportant money is. A truly selfless act. My heart is very heavy today.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
God speed to all our troops.

Yeah, the guy turns down an offer sheet from St. Louis out of commitment to the Cards, and then turns down a contract from the Cards for a few million to become a Ranger. God bless him, he realized money isn't everything in life, and prayers to him and his family. Talk about leading by example.

He is an American HERO. Hope this
puts things into perspective for
some of those "pro athletes" who
think that the world owes them
something. I cannot honestly say
that I would have done what he
did, (heck, I know I would have
took the money) that is what makes
him so special!

I just want to add that I mean no disrespect to all our brave soldiers who have given their lives in the fight against terrorism.
Pat Tillman's death is no more or less important than the rest of our people. They're all heroes in my book.
God speed.

None here will ever minimalize a military persons death, but what made him different was the fact that unlike many who choose to serve and defend our country, and know it is their calling, or those who were financially guided to the military for a "better life", be it by the educatuional benefits, or a well deserved miliatry retirment, since the draft was eliminated so many years ago, he probably "gave up" the most to be a Patriot and chose a "lesser" publicized career than he had at the time, and took one he$$ of a pay cut to boot, to be what he wanted. Every man and women that has ever served to protect and defend this country, are heroes, those who paid the ultimate price, heroes and then some, just really don't know if there is a word around for the "then some".
Thoughts and prayers to all military persons (and their families, who are also making the sacrifice) around the world, including those who chose to attend one of the military academies, because though in school now, upon graduation, who know what conflict may call them.
God speed men and women in uniform, and for the record, Go Navy beat Hopkins (sorry Nick)!:)

they are all heroes but when i hear players wont play for a team ala manning this year and elway in 83 it really puts things into perspective - play for whatever team takes you - you make millions doing what you love as a job - go via free agency if you dont like the city where you were picked - again your making millions playing a game - tillman is a true hero but so are all that served

eli manning is overrated and won't be very good in the NFL. Mark my words!

No question that everyone who defends their country deserves our respect and honor. Giving your life in service of your country is about the highest calling I can imagine, but the fact that he also walked away from a multimillion dollar career...it leaves your jaw on the floor.
This guy was the real deal. He's the patriot at Bunker Hill; he's the kid wading onto Omaha Beach; he's the green beret headed up the Mekong Delta. If he's not a hero then the word has no meaning.

He is a true Patriot! His family should be proud and I'm sure they are. God bless his soul and all of the Patriots who continue to fight foe our freedom!

There all hero's in my mind also. The Tillman Story is remarkable. To think there are actually a few john waynes out there.I remember hearing about Him making the decision.it brings tears to my eyes to think of what a self less man he was and inspires me to try to be a little more selfless.I also believe he has a brother fighting aswell but im not sure. Go U.S.A .God bless our men and women risking there lives so we can live free.
Support your troops. If you know of anyone fighting overseas send em a care package. They would love it.

One of my fishing buddies got back from Iraq recently. He told me that the guy who replaced him in his convoy was killed a week later.
No matter what the politics are, we need to bring all our boys home ASAP.
