She is definetly cheap steak tough. Her drum looked like it had a striper in it's belly.

I don't want to offend anyone and I apologize in advance if I do but I feel that there is more than just catching a big fish to being Angler of the month. Is roz even a board member? I just feel that to be Angler of the month you have to contributing member of P&S. I'm sure she is a great lady and an excellent fisherwoman but I feel that there are others more deserving of the award.

You’re right, one big fish should not take the prize. I do enjoy fishing and have caught some other nice fish over the past year or so. It was really different reeling in a Drum (15 min.) on the other end compared to my 38" Striper (5 min.) - in the middle of January - or my 43" shark two weeks ago. It sure was fun!! It was also different having to pull and reel at the same time, and when the fish came in, he turned around and took off again - of course, pulling the line off the reel. I enjoy wading also. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Oh My.
Man this will be a tough decision.
Wilber is a friend an would give a stranger th shirt off his back. Also he is a heck of a better angler than he leads on to be.
But I fished next to Larry an Roz two weeks ago an she fished as hard or harder than most of th guys. Wish I could of been there to see her get that drum.
I'll have to ponder on this and email flea when/if I can make a decision.....

Not to start a p@ssing contest but.....P&S Member? (http://www.pierandsurf.com/onthewater/topangler/2004march.shtml)
No need to argue about this. Just email flea with your nomination and leave it at that. ;) JMO.

When I first nominated murph and Liam it was as a father and son team. That was purposely done to try and avoid this issue. For whatever reason the title was givin to Liam alone but I will say, he has earned it!
Is Liam a P&S member?
Liam has attended all but one of the P&S clean ups. He has picked up trash, carried it to the dumpsters, been our gopher, carried our gear, eat our food and fished hard with the best of us. :)
At six years old Liam can't afford a computer of his own to be a contributing member of P&S in any other way. But if he could theres no doubt in my mind he would be one of the better P&S members in every way.
So the answer is, ask any member that has ever met and fished with Liam if he is a P&S member or not? I'm sure they would all say the same thing. You bet your butt he is!
I'm sure roz is a great lady and no disrespect is ment to her or Larry in any way. Look back at all the AOTMs thoe. These people have been around for a while and have all made many contributions in one way or another to the P&S family. They all earned the title, it wasn't just givin to them.
I think this is the point that Anthony was trying to make and I guess it is something that needed to be addressed. Like you said Dawg, theres no need to argue about this. Just email flea with your nomination and leave it at that.
roz, thats one nice fish and my hats off to you! I just hope I should be so lucky as to tie into one or three also this year.....Tightlines

And in the future, let's not get into debating this stuff on the boards. Just e-mail me your vote, because in the end a simple vote decides it.
It's nice to see votes coming in for so many people who are so liked and respected.

Some have said you should be a P&S member. :) Some have said that you should participate in the P&S clean-ups.
:) HAT 80 said( Look back at all the AOTMs thoe. These people have been around for a while and have all made many contributions in one way or another to the P&S family. They all earned the title, it wasn't just givin to them.) I am not familiar with anyone giving my wife anything.
This is very interesting!!! All we did was post some pics of some nice fish that my wife caught. And she was nominated for this AOTM. And then come all of these comments about this and that. As short/long as I have been on this board, I have never seen anything at all about the criteria about being nominated. IMO, if there were some criteria put in place about nominating an AOTM, there would not be any of these posts. There would only be comments like; "NICE FISH!" etc., etc., etc.
HAT80 talks about contributions: I guess that belonging to the NCBBA(North Carolina Beach Buggy Association) does not count. This group works to help keep the N.C. beaches open to the public. We have just re-registered and sent in extra $$$, for the lawsuit(The fishing corridors-if you are not familiar) that is going on now. We have also sent $ to Drumdum to help with a fund-raiser for off-setting some of these costs. I have been in the F&F's Red drum tournament for the past 2 yrs., where they also raise funds to keep the N.C. beaches open. It sounds like that the only ones who can be nominated are ones who do alot with P&S. That is fine; but then make it clear.
I guess that what I am saying is IMO to make this beneficial for everyone, to put some criteria in place. "NOT SUGGESTING CRITERIA AFTER THE FACT, LIKE SOME ARE DOING."

PELICAN MAN.
OK ... NOW IT’S MY TURN ... I am flattered by the nomination and flattered by all the support of the people who have voted for me ... BUT ... with all due respect to P&S - frankly, I could care less about being nominated or voted as AOTM. The bottom line is this ... I enjoy fishing and fishing with my husband - who also obviously enjoys it as well. Not only that, but we do it together as a family. I sure you have noticed our girls in most of our posted pictures. IMO, That’s what it is really all about! FAMILY!:) So how about addressing the issues that need to be address for the next nomination and quit playing a tennis match over this one. Maybe instead of spending so much time arguing over things like this (spending time on the computer) ... you should be spending some extra time with your families. Let the nominations fall as they may! ... AND LET’S GO FISHING!!!:D

I'm sure this is going to piss off a few but it seems to me that AOM is more of a popularity thing than anything else. I know Sand flea has certain standards that he goes by and weighs each nomination accordingly but perhaps these standards should be published so we have some guide lines to go by when making a nomination.

This is supposed to be fun, folks. It's a way of recognizing people who have put in their time on the water and contributed something to the board. It's a way of getting to know each other a little better.
The criteria? Anyone can be nominated. Everybody's welcome. In the end it's decided by who gets the most votes mailed in from all the members so, catfish, you're right. It's a popularity contest.
Everybody take a deep breath. The second this thing stops being fun is the second I stop doing it.
And Roz, you're completely right. It's all about the fishing and having fun. Whether it's this month or another you'll get the votes and we'll all find out why you're pulling in huge reds and the rest of us are covered in skunk. :D
