Dawn falling tide @ Lockwoods 9/4 took 2 whiting, 3 blues and a nice spot. Middlin blues 12" high/low on fresh shrimp. Fry for lunch.

Afternoon slow w/ a blue and pins and touron issues.

Dawn 9/5 mullet were thick in the folly, large whiting and blues again, nice puppy red just under slot, let him go with my regards. Some take high/low some with live mullet in a carolina rig. Smoked Blues for supper.

Afternoon skunk -- mullet were out @ low but went elsewhere for their flood tide party. Pins and beers.

Dawn 9/6, first cast big black drum. Pic attached. Rest of morning a little slow, burned bait and threw back some blues then got this fella properly iced.

today was great for sea mullet fishing at the 3.5 mile post. I caught about 25 sea mullet in the trough as the waves hit the beach, some were 15" and over a pound for sure. The nice suprise were the two puppy drum I got withen 30 minutes of each other. They were right at 18 inches. All were caught on sand fleas. The only bad thing about today was the flies were thick. Every time I had to put a fish in the cooler or put on new bait the flies were all over my legs. The only recluse from them was getting in the wave wash onto the beach. The mullet were big enough to fillet. Hopefully tomorrow will be as good but with less flies, depends if the wind is out of the west again.

Hi all. I am just curious about how the hurricane treated everyone down @ hatteras & the rest of the OBX. There hasn't been a storm this serious come by there since I first fell in love with hatteras Isle, so I have no idea how serious Earl was.

I remember when I was down last October there was some weather off shore that made some pretty nasty surf. It flooded a section of highway 12 for a bit and took out alot of the sand around Avon pier. At the time it looked like if it got much worse it would wash out under the foundation of the pierhouse there. So I guess I'm also wondering what the beach looks like @ avon pier? Did alot of beach get washed back into place since then or has this last storm got it looking again like the pierhouse isn't far from being washed out from beneath?

Anyway, I sincerely hope that everyone down there weathered the storm safely & didn't take any seious damage or heavy losses. You all have been on my mind.

My family is heading to Nags Head for our annual trip in the middle of September. Typically several of my uncles bring fishing boats. One uncle sold his Carolina Skiff earlier in the year and just got word another uncle sold his boat last week. Both plan to buy new boats, they just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Super disappointed as we usually spend four to five days fishing around the Oregon Inlet.

Where is the best place to rent a fishing boat for a couple days in the Nags Head area? Hopefully something with a depth finder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new to these boards, but would love some advice if anyone would be kind enough to share. I used to to be obsessed with fishing as a kid, but my father didn't really do any of it, so it was pretty much up to me to figure things out for myself on family beach trips. Learned a lot by watching others, trying things for myself, and a little friendly advice from old timers on the piers.

Well, it had been a few years since I had done any fishing at all, but I spent the 4th of July weekend fishing with a buddy in the Core Sound area and caught a bunch of nice flounder and blues. Then I just spent 2 weeks at Wrightsville with my family and caught some decent drum (6 >22"), a bunch of blues and my first ever cobia fishing off a dock on Banks Channel.

Well, needless to say...I'm completely hooked again and itching to do some more.

I'm heading up to Carova with some friends Sept 18-25. I was wondering if I should bring a rod down there and try to do some surf fishing. I've heard the drum are pretty good later in the season, but was wondering what I could expect this time of year. I haven't done a whole lot of surf fishing, so any advice would be helpful.

Thanks for any help!
