Hi Everyone. I'm new here if you couldn't figure that out just yet. I've been watching this forum for awhile and I just thought I would join because of the knowledge shown, fishing reports and the broad range of fishing area covered. Anyway, I do alot of saltwater fishing in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and used to fish alot florida with my pap as a kid. So I'm not new to saltwater fishing but, my wife and I are going on vacation in North Myrtle Beach this year (great...another tourist) near Appachie Pier. I never fished South Carolina before so I'm dumb to any tricks of the area. I don't run after the big stuff. I just mainly stick to flounder, snapper blues, trout, whiting, etc. What is the best all around bottom rig and bait to use for that type of fish? I never fished from a pier the size of Apache so what kinda rod, line, and weight do I use. I'm assuming a stout rod and heavy line to lift the fish, right? Oh, god...another question. Can you catch anything on the beach around the pier? (I'm gonna pound you guys with surf fishing questions for the same area later on in ROUND 2...heheheheh)

A6-7 ft spinning or casting rod should catch any of the fish listed spooled with about 12 lb test line. For whiting, blues, trout etc use a standard two hook bottom rig. For blues, spnaih and trout you can also try jigging a gotcha plug. For flounder a fishfinder or carolina rig with a live minnow is you rbest bet. I believe that pier has pier nets for public use, so if you hook a good sized flounder or trout, USE THEM. Don't try to lift the fish over the side, its too easy for them to get off.
