Romancoke was TKO'd by Izzy, so no crabbing there period. Not open, no tresspassing. Sorry.

Your best bet for crabbing from a pier would be the Tank. There's also the possibility that the croaker bite could turn on. Good luck.

Shaggy,
Have you heard whether Romancoke is being rebuilt or not? I keep hearing conflicting reports.
And c-dog23, nowhere is really hot right now. Heck, I haven't fished in Maryland since striper season ended. The blues and trout appear to be taking their sweet time getting here.

Heard funding was in place, and construction is suppose to begin sometime this summer. That said, when dealing with governments, who really knows?

Ok, everyone listen up. I've been going to Matapeak 3 to 4 times a week and "THE ONLY" time the croakers are biting often enough to make it even slightly worth the trip is "DURING" a "HEAVY" thunderstorm. Was there last week during one and there was only 1 person who stayed on the pier cause lightening was striking less than 100 yards off the pier. The rest of us ran like h@$*. As soon as it cleared we ran back down to find this guy soaking wet with approximately 22 croakers still flopping around on the pier. The bite ended in another 10 minutes. :( . On several occasions I've seen people in boats go out about 300-400 yards and in less than 2 hours come back in with their coolers overflowing with horse sized croakers. For some reason, they just aren't coming anywhere near the pier. To add insult to injury, some jackass dropped crab pots as close as 40 yards from the pier. So, got a boat=catch croakers, lightening resistant=catch croakers. As for me, no fish is worth risking my life.

be nice if they rebuild romancoke pier hope that they would make it a tad bit longer to cut down on the casting to get to the channel edge. rialing might help too. Guess we all will have to wait to see on that one.

From what I heard, the County put in a request for a longer pier and the C o E turned it down. Me personally, same lenth, maybe a nice T at the end, but if nothing else, let me see a pile driver out there and work started.
