The sea mullet have showed up in good numbers as far North as Avalon. They still stretch south to Avon in good numbers. The Taylor Blue fish are being hammered up and down the OBX.

The Drum turned the water red at the Point late this afternoon.I hope Kenny was there...I was busy working on a Honey-Do list when I got the call..I hopefully will get a chance at them in the AM...

Fished Nags Head Pier on Wednesday and there was no end to the sea mullet. Though most of the success was on bloodworms, squid produced as well. Many folks went home with full coolers. Spot, blow-toads and shad were also around.

However, the big surprise was the number of bluefish brought in. And not just your run-of-the-mill blues, but more than a few 5-6 pounders. Most were caught on metal, but bait produced as well.

I also watched several guys land what looked to be trout while casting jigs from the beach.

Overall, a great day on the OBX. Not sure what the latest nor'easter will do, but things are settling down now and hopes are that the bite is still on. Water temperature on Thursday was 58 degrees.
