A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi Yo Stingsilver!"

This morning (Tuesday) we loaded up the rig, picked up some subs and headed south out of Nags Head. The forecast was calling for a light breeze from the north and temperatures into the mid 60s - great conditions for tossing a little metal for blues.

First stop; Ramp 27 where we aired down and headed south. By the time we arrived the wind and surf were beginning to build. My significant other headed out in the search for the ultimate conch while I tied on a silver Stingsilver. Two casts later I was into my first blue - not a monster, but enough size to get my mind into action. Shortly after I'd landed the first the second was on. This one proved a little more determined to shake the lure and he had the size to do just that. Luckily it was landed and soon back in to fight another day.

The action slowed and the surf built. Soon after the fog moved in and wind picked up it's intensity. One more fish was lost before we decided to head further south. Next stop, Ramp 34. Again, the silver SS proved to be the ticket and a half dozen blues were caught and released. Most of these were 4 lbs. plus

By now the high wind, dropping temperatures and growing surf was making it near impossible to fish. Being in shorts, sandals and wading wet wasn't helping. So, we did the next best thing and headed for Red Drum Tackle. I didn't need anything in particular, but how can a person be so close and not go. ;-) As luck would have it they had 25% off of their Tica rods and I left with a new rod, reel, and a lighter wallet.

From RDT we passed on hitting the point and headed to Frisco Pier. Most of the anglers we spoke with there reported sea mullet and good numbers of bluefish. RDT reported the same thing for the Point and beaches around the area.

The moral of the story - if you can get a few days off of work and get here, this might be the time to do it. There's fish being caught up and down the OBX. The weather is warming, as is the h2o and crowds minimal. Hope to see you on the beach!

BTW - Red Drum Tackle has more than a few Tica rods at a great price.
