I will be camping down in Carolina beach this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any good pier reports from down there. I am introducing a friend to salwater fishing so I am hoping to be able to show him as much as possible, I thought a pier would be a good place to start. Anyway I have equipment to handle anything from panfish to cobe's so any suggestion of where in that area we should focus would be appreciated. thanks for the help.

Last year we caught 3 kings off of carolina beach pier in a day. I have seen alot of flounder and sheepshead and blackdrum caught off of that pier.

i don't like to flounder fish carolina beach because of the way the planks stick out it makes it hard to work the pilings. THey catch a lot of fish there, but if it were me i'd ride on down to ocean crest just because in my opinion its a lot easier to fish.

teach him to work a gotcha plug and he'll have a blast w/ the blues and spanish. they're around pretty thick right now.

true that, white with a red head seems to be the hot color, at least at ocp it was. if there are any finger mullet around you can have a blast by throwing them out with a treble hook stuck right in front of the anal fin and no weight. spanish love them, and blues will too. theres nothing like seeing a fish hit on top
