well blitz is an understatement. Yesterday at Bogue Inlet Pier up in Atlantic Beach, 25 big blues between between 6lb 11oz and 9lb 3oz were landed. I would have loved to been in the middle of that.

You know, I'm hearing a lot this year about the return of the big blues. Fish up to 10 pounds are showing up all over the place.
Now they're not the choppers from the 80's, but is anybody else noticing an uptick in bigger blues this spring?

It does seem like there are decent sized blues all along the coast being caught from shore. Has anyone heard about them being caught in the Chesapeake Bay? I know there have been some small ones being caught in the bay right now, at least the MD side.

Talked to a guy at chicks yesterday that said they were thick in the blues last weekend with some running 9-11#.

we killed the blues at OCP this past weekend. We had around 15 over 6lbs -12lb. And caught hundreds in the 1-4pound range on gotchas + that one nice 7lbr on a gotcha.

I've started a thread (http://www.pierandsurf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=121370#post121370) over in the Open Forum on this subject to see what anglers from other states are hearing.

I fished Dixie Arrow weekend before last,so many big bluefish on that wreck the bottom machine was covered with 30' layer of them! We caught a couple of seabass that were in 3lb class, but couldn't get but one of them through that mess.. The fish were long and skinny like always. In the 80's,Flea they never really had the big wieght until fall, always skinny in the spring..
