Departed Taylors Landing at 5:30am aboard the ShelbyKatII with dr. Ike and Greg Allen. Headed to the 1st Island at CBBT to try for some Sheeps. Nothing but some toads, so over to the 2nd we go. Ditto there, so I take out my Fin-nor lite combo w/12# test tipped with a 20# leader and toss out a Grenn/Glow Gotcha trying for Blues since we were trying for Cobia later.
2nd cast and "FISH ON", but wait... this fish hit like a freight train and I believe that is a spot on his tail as he is now pissed and spalashing the top of the water. ZZZZZZZZZZ for about 7 seconds and he broke me just like a bull! GONE! Well It was fun for a few seconds anyway, needless to say I was not expecting that.
Back to the 1st, and not much but a trigger and tog between the three of us. To the rockpile we go for Cobia. Arrive at the rockpile and conditions were playing havoc. Outgoing tide and North wind made it not fun. Slick going good and to our surprize the eel get hit for a second. A small pup played wuith the eel for a bit then took off. About 30 minutes later a big cobia comes throught he slick but keeps on trucking, didn't even bother to look at our baits.
One more run on the bottom, but cleaned off! That's it pull anchor and head back in at 2pm. Wind was not to our favor today, but oh well that's fishing!!
