fished my 11' with 6oz and a fresh chunk O' bunker crabs loved it, took it all night. Stole the head, ate the tail, No other takers on the big heaver.

Although, I fished my light action rod for whiting with my 2oz slip sinker and my 1/0 circle hook and got 3 whiting all around 7" they returned to swim another day. Funny thing was that after I hooked the 3 whiting the action changed.....7 black tip sharks back to back to...just goes to show ya, even when you are whiting fishing you can get into sharks.

Glad the man did not come down and make me try on any silver bracelets :D

Big Worm thanks for the report. I got less than a month now and I'll be down. Can't wait. Keep the reports coming. Thanks

What did you use for the whitting? Tried sandflea's for them and didn't work to well and using shrimp you usually catch more pinfish then whitting.

Used shrimp. But I only used little pieces. I can get 3 from one med shrimp.

Are you fishing from the pier or the beach?

What type of rig are you using?

Usually fishing from a pier and using a 2 hook bottom rig.

how far down the pier do you go? I usually find that they are mostly right there in the first breaker. A simple in line egg sink about 12" up your line behind a barrel swivel with a 1/0 circle hook with allow the whiting to hook themselves all day long.

Was it actually whiting that you caught, or sea mullet? I was at Garden City pier in Myrtle Beach last year and there were a lot of so-called whiting caught. When I took mine to the fish market to be cleaned, they told me they were sea mullet, and showed me whiting, which are much longer and slender.

They are whiting. I use sea mullet for drum bait.
