Fished both the surf and pier.
Surf fishing was up towards the North end. Used shrimp for bait - hit it at sunrise and fished till about 11:30am. Couple of Whitings. Not much action.
Pier - Better luck there. Multiple Whitings (few keepers) and a BIG crab with a nasty dispostion !!
Cut Bait and Shrimp. Overall was pretty quiet. One guy hooked a large stingray - which caused a little excitement.
Tried some spoons and Gotcha's at both locations - no action on those.
Did meet Capt. Ray at Tybee Bait & Tackle (recommended from this board ! ) - Great guy with A LOT of good knowlegde. Bought a new Shimano Reel from him, as well as another 7ft. stick. Will be brining my Proline down in the fall/winter timeframe as Capt. Ray has promised more big fish than I will know what to do with !!
Trying to upload a photo of the pier on Sat. night - It was packed !!! Shoulder to Shoulder fishing - a little cramped in my opinion.
Looking forward to the next trip !!
