Quick report. In a word, a nursery. Small spot and perch.

Was there from 5am to 12 noon today. To be honest, I didn't go for the fish, but for the crabs. Didn't feel like sitting in a dark green jon boat with today's heat. Same report with the crabs, lots of small ones. Did get a dozen but they were slow coming.

Saw lots of baby perch and spot caught. Nothing else. Heard from two sources that last night from 7-9pm the blues were thick. They were casting spoons and bucktails for them. Second hand info.

Off to steam my pets. :p

thanks for the repot Bubba... how do you catch crab from your jon boat? Just wondering...

I run 30 topless collapsible traps on floats. I lay them out in a line about 30-40' apart... check them... cull the crabs... start over.

Not as productive as a trot line, but easier to bait, and relocate if you have to hunt for the crabs.

Don't normally crab at the Peak but had an urge to try a new garlic crab spice I got and didn't want to deal with the boat in the heat. BTW, the spice is awesome. J.O. brand. Good stuff. Clean the crabs first, pore it on and then steam. :p :D
