Had a great weekend on Cumberland surf fished off beach near sea campgound. Action was good except at slack tides. Had fun catching shark the largest brought in was 3 1/2' black tip, also had croaker, catfish and possibly a blue fish had not caught this before in Ga. not real sure on its id. A couple of large rays gave me and the tackle a work out. Was using squid as no bait fish in casting range and surf was up pretty good all day. Although the cat fish were a nuisance the bigger ones were kind of fun. The good thing about Cumberland is you can fish the main beach in peace and quiet very few people to be in the way. The prospect of catching a large shark or something differant makes this enjoyable to me. Fish were biting good all day.
Did have a ranger stop by and check my license.

You say a ranger stopped to check your license. I thought you didn't need one when fishing from the beach and the Great Lodge website only refers to boat fishing. Am I wrong?

The state of Georgia requires a fishing license regardless if freshwater or saltwater. Have been checked many times on Jekyll island.

:D yes you now have to have a fishing lisc. wether fishing from land or boat. south carolina used to only require one if you were in a boat but that has long since changed.ga is the same the only way you can fish without a lisc. is if your very young how young im not sure and also when you turn 65 your fishing lisc is permanent.never has to be renewed until death do you part!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
