Anyone know what the going price for a box of squid is?

I'll withhold how much I paid for them at Anglers until I get some responses... anyone like to guess? :)

You can get it at the asian grocery marts for SUPER cheap, and its fresh, not frozen!

I think the going price is around $3.85 a box.

But I have know that there is a red and blue box. For two times now, one of the boxes that I had (forgot to notice which color DUH!), had pretty sorry squid. It was breaking down too easily, sometimes as I was cutting it up.

I hear that fresh is the way to go. If you can find it.

Super H Mart or Grand Mart. They are located in both MD and Northern VA. Last time I bought squid, they are around $1.25/LB. It's fresh and firm. Don't get the ones that are cleaned.

Have purchased in two diff areas, $2.35 1lbbox and $3.xx.. at another.. The squid is definitely a favorite of the hardheads at IRI.. and have had pretty decent success elsewhere also to my suprise... but my favorite spot slams bloodies all day. You can't tell me hardheads don't bite during the day.....

The price is gonna go way up across the board in a year or so because there is something going on that is bad with a major population of them...

I believe we will see a continually downturn in the population and health of many species of aquatic life due to the ever increasing levels of pollution being sifted into the bays and ocean.

It is evident w/ the 2mil + fish kill last year, the million or so in the Shenendoah, the algae blooms, the fish lesions.. etc....

The End Of Days.....

okay... here is the price I paid at Anglers. It's not arm and a leg but still higher than other places. I guess I'm paying for their location and my lack of planning.

4.95

Sorta off topic, but it's about prices.

Food Lion dropped their frozen eating shrimp to $3.99/lb today. Supposed to last the week. Have had good luck with their shrimp, plus you can eat your bait when you get home. :)

Also, they have 1" thick rib-eye's for $4.99/lb with a $25 purchase. Just finished one. Awesome! :p

Gah! Five bucks for frozen squid? It wasn't that long ago that that's what a dozen bloodworms cost.

And BubbaBlue, eating shrimp is the only shrimp worth using as bait. Your catch is better plus, as you said, you can eat the leftovers.
