Small world. I've book a halibut and king salmon adventure out of Sitka, Alaska for June of next year. Should be my fishing highlight of a lifetime. There's 6 of us going. Three days of bliss. :D Then we're meeting the wives for a seven day Alaskian cruise. :D

Yes sir, that sounds like a trip of a lifetime.
Bet landing one of those halibut would get your arm muscles a quivering. :)

OBTW, hope they have a BIG freezer on that cruise ship. ;) :D

Part of the package deal is that they quick freeze the buts and smoke the salmon, package everything and send it home. So many lbs are done free then it's $.30 a # for the buts and $.40 a # for the salmon. I just can't imagine catching one of those 250# halibuts. Anything over 100#'s they call shooters meaning the shot them before bringing them over the rail. Should be exciting. :D

Yeah, I can't imagine catching one of those either. When I first saw the site I was wondering if Penn made a block and tackle or winch. ;)

Saw that they encourage C&R for 150# and up. That's a good thing... for the hailbut and also... what would I do with 300# of halibut steaks? Reminds me of an article I read recently about the wife of the guy who caught a record tuna off DE, NJ or somewhere. Pretty sure the whole neighborhood was sick of tuna before it was gone. :p

Serious though, sounds like a heck of a trip Nick. Hope to do something like that myself someday. Cruise should be cool too. You doing the glass top train up into Denali? Had one planned up there last year myself but it fell through. :(

I wanna see the pictures. :D

I wanted to do the glass top train but couldn't interest anyone else (wife) in it. That would have been the topper for me. :D Probably just as well since I'm going to Ireland in '07 to visit relatives I've never seen. Got to watch the travel budget.
