well the fishing today was pretty good for change. we finally caught some decent fish. we caught whiting all afternoon on the incoming tide. we caught about 6 trout with 3 keepers, 5 keeper whiting and 2 pompano. the bite was on all afternoon alot of 9" whiting and missed 1 very nice fish. my 6 year old got a 13" red and the guy next to me got a 15" red. we saw a couple of 40" blacktips off the end of the pier. we were only able to get 3 crabs  but the fishing was on for us. we fished from 5 til 8 with alot of success. it really kept the boys busy fishing and fetching shrimp. all and all it was a good day we will try it again tomorrow hopefully it will be even better.

clinder,
I apologize for not being able to make it out last week out at Tybee. I was not able to get a hotel room down there and stayed up on Bay Street in Sav. I wouldn't venture to say I am a fairweather fisherman, but I really didn't see too many sweet reports to warrant me going out there for a couple of whiting. I did however successfully drop a juicy C Note at the Bass Pro. We don't have anything like that in Charleston. The closest thing we have is a Dicks and that just openned up today.
My next trip to Tybee will be in November, and hopefully that is when the fish will make their runs. Believe me, I will definitely be able to stay on the oceanfront and will be bringing all of my gear with me.

sounds great leo. some of the local inshore charter fisherman have been reporting superb catches of big bull reds already this year. im gonna start tryin for them this coming week through the rest of the warm weather into late fall. im sure ill see ya. look for a calcutta 700te on a 8 foot shimono rod im the only on pier fishing one of those on tybee.(almost got divorced over that 600.00 setup!!) dam thing ill sling 6 0z with a mullet head farther than most 10 foot spinning set ups ive seen. just takes alot of practice. good fishin man se you then. :D
by the way leo how long you lived in charleston?

I was stationed in Charleston back in Dec 98 to Jul 2000. I just got stationed here again in March. I make a trip to Tybee every 3 months. The next time will be in November, when hopefully some fish will be making their fall runs.
