As fishing season heats up in early fall so does our beloved other outdoor activities: you guessed it, Hunting! This year the farm we have been hunting for over 15 years has closed its doors to hunting due to housing developments encroaching it borders. A scene that is all too common in our areas. The real problem is that deer populations are still rising regardless if human populations moving into their area. Regardless, this is a message requesting a favor. Does anyone have any farms or land for lease, room in a local hunting club or a contact for a landowner who might. I practice strict game management with my hunting companions and could probably swing some hunting oppurtunites in PA as well as discounted taxidermy. If intersted in sharing please PM me, if not I completely understand as our hunting land is a precious comodity. Thanks,

Sorry about your loss. I am down to just a handfull of spots as I live in one of the most rapidly developing counties in PA. If you do stumble across a lease opportunity and there is room for one more let me know. I have been looking for a MD or DE lease for three years with no luck. The few opennings I found were in clubs with too many members for the size of the property. If I stumble across something I'll let ya know. I try to check out a few resources I have every couple of weeks.

Not that it's much of a lead but I live north of Baltimore and saw a few adds for clubs looking to take on members / lease property for the upcoming season.
One that caught my eye was 1500 for the season duck, goose, deer.
Check out the classified section of the Baltimore Sun -- Look under real estate, hunting property.
Hope it helps !
I'm a bird hunter who is slowly becoming a full-time fisherman due to lack of public hunting ops.

I have been hunting MD for only 4 years now and have finally figured out 2 of my spots. I only hunt firearms season, so I cant tell you about bow season. I also hunt state land so I dont know anything about "clubs". This year I plan on a "surf and turf" trip to AI, Silka during the day and striper at night.
Jamie,
we need to hook up again this year and try some of your areas in western MD.

Mike,
I have been thinking about doing one of your surf and turf trips for years. You know what they say about great minds! From what I hear the hunting there is great. Let me know if you want to team up. Maybe during ml season.
sounds like a plan, but no ML here sorry

Thanks Ex, Ia appreciate the lead.
All Other, Thanks for feedback. What is a silka? and is there public hunting land in A.I. The usrf and turf sounds like a great idea. Can you give more details?

In my community all the good areas are falling to progress also. This will be the second year in a row that I won't make it out. No time left to take off of work and no coin to pay for an out of state trip. It really sucks!!!!

and watch a season go by. So the sitka deer, you can hunt them at AI? What are the regs and how much?
If I fins any land, I will post it. If we can get a few guys together it may reduce the total fee due for leasing. I am following some leads in NVA as well.

sorry buddy but the md. sika deer is not a black tail they are two vastly different species.basically a sika is an elk with the upward sweeping antlers ,a mane and the stags also have a bugle tusk although not of any size comparred to their big cousins.md dnr provides an imformative site on these grand little critters .ive hunted these little fellows quite a bit along with the much bigger formosa sika .texas has a wild population of formosa sika .dont think im being a smart@ss by posting this but hunting is not only a passion with me its how i earn my living .we owe it to our prey to know them as well as we can
vegatarian=old indian word for bad hunter :D

reduction specialist, I use a compound bow. You can find groups of residents who will allow you to hunt. Those pesky deer are wrecking havoc on their high dollar landscaping :p I had a honey hole that produced three deer a year on one acre of land surrounded by 6 multi-million dollar homes. One owner sold his home to a tree hugger. This effetively shut down that opportunity.
Pick up a bow and your opportunities will increase dramatically
