Beautiful eveining to go hang out down near haines point. Only problem was I couldn't even get some trash fish on my line.
I tossed out a couple of rods w/ some cut blue on em just looking for a big cat or a resident rock. I did have one what I assumed was a big cat spit the hook as I got him close.
I was situated on the channel side just about directly across from Cantina Marina. I figured the channel is all the same, but are there some holes out there I should be at ???
I know a bunch of you guys have been fishing down there for years. L, Dre, Jamaican.......where's the fish at down there???

Hey Otter. Its good to see another local fishing at the point. I went there last week using sopt and night crawlers. Caught 5 cats on the river side accross from the airport on crawlers, nothing on the spot. With the onset of fall the Rock and LM Bass will stack up along the tube over at the airport. Fish live minnows or crank baits against the current along the edge of the tube.
I hope this helps, happy fishing.

There's alot of crappies sunfish and lm bass all along the marina side of the channel[around the boats]...Tie on a crank bait [firetiger 6a bomber ]and walk along the wall on the HP side ...the lm and sm are hanging close to the wall...cut bait try under the 14st bridge directly across from the wharf [HP side]......Also for the record there's some nice W/YPerch and small bass in Roaches Run[ airport] on a outgoing tide ...I p/u a dozen or so on 8/25 all on crappie jigs :D

yup that's where I found em at. Just used some pieces of shrimp and some smaller 2/0 cirlcles. Prob before was I was just dead sticking and watching, changed up and held the rod and caught em one after another. Those f-ers just nibble till ya yank em up.
I don't care what anybody says, I had fun catchin cat after cat. When it's 2 minutes from the house and it's gauranteed=fun for me. With the chance of an occasional rock it keeps it interesting.
oh yeah, i did catch my first ever yellow perch too. Kinda cool for a FL boy.
I'm gonna be up at the New river in WV this weekend doing some rafting. Bringing the gear w/ me, supposed to be some of the best smallie fishing in the country. I'll let ya'll know on the WV board :D :D
Hey finn- where's the 'tube' bro? Let me know when you hit it either way.

Otter,
The "tube" is the aqua duct under the GW Parkway, it connects the Potomac River to Roaches Run. Better still if you go to the boat ramp at the airport, look hard to your immediate right and you'll see the tube. It depends on the tides which side you'll fish.

I thought I'd mention this since you'all are talkin bout Roaches Run. Arlington County is in the process of building a large recreation complex on the vacant land on the backside of Roaches Run. A lot of us "Roaches Run regulars" are hoping they will put in a small boat launch and possibly a pier on that side when they do this. If you'd like to put in your 2 cents on this go to www.co.arlington.va.us/ and let the county board know you'd like to see them consider this. It would be nice to see the county include fishing in their plans, especially since the area lacks decent fishing facilities.

Yep, I was just referring to it by it's official name since some folks don't know the locals call it "Duck Pond" ;)
