Hitched another ride aboard the ShelbyKat2 with Dr. Ike today to try for some Sheeps and then target whatever else presented itself.

Left Taylors and arrived at the 2nd and wanted to anchor on the ocean side, but the swells were just too much and not worth the risk, so we anchored on the bay side. Dropped fiddlers for about 45 minutes and nothing to be found. Talked to some others and nada for them either, so off to the 4th we go.

Hit the 4th and dropped over the tubes. After numerous lost rigs and snags, and donating enough lead to the bottom, WHAM! my rod bends over and starts to scream. No doubt this is a BIG SHEEP to say the least. I start reeling in, but the sheep wants nothing to do with coming in, what a fighter. I keep cranking and he is getting closer, and I can finally taste my first paper of the year, then BAM he's gone! Reel in my line knowing I still have my rig and cant figure out what happened till I look at the hook and see that the Sheep bit the hook in half. Lesson learned, I ain't using no cheap sheep hooks again!

Well if that wasn't bad enough, I start to try to retrieve my rig out of a snag bouncing it up and down, then SNAP, Crackle, Pop there goes my Tica Boat rod in half (now I'm steaming     ). Needless to say I am just beside myself and will be sending the rod back, no excuse for it!

After that, a few small undersized female togs, dang blasted tiny sea bass, a toad and bait stealing triggers (none caught) nibbling off the fiddlers.

Start to head back in and stopped by the 3rd when we see a wall of red marks on the fish finder. I drop over a jig and nail a nice 2-3 pound blue on light tackle. when he is visible in the water, I notice a Swarm and I mean Swarm of Blues ravaging everything going by including my fish. For about the next 40 minutes we casted into a nice hungry school of Blues ranging from 1-5 pounds. Blues were crushing small bait against the rocks. Headed back in shortly after that.

Well at least the blues took my mind off the roid and lost sheep! I always catch fish on the ShelbyKat2, today was just not meant to be for the sheep. Did not hear of too much else being caught with consistency!

Over and out till next time....

you gotta go with the gammy 4X hooks for the heads, if they bite through them, there is something wrong. I am done with tica's those damn guides suck, I have 1 tica gus has two, after the cca tourney on Sat, all three have damaged guides, yea it was rough but my shimano terramar didn't suffer! I guess you get whay you pay for.

Too bad you lost the sheep. Ike told me of your trip when I saw him that same night. Definitely have to use daichi or gamakatsu (sp?) hooks. Lighthouse tackle had daichi hooks B1G1 a couple of weeks ago.
