Heading to AI from Richmond. Where can I get fresh bunker/mullet? I plan on fishing the MD side.
Do I need to go all the way to Ocean City? Are there any bait stores prior to the CB bridge tunnel which have fresh bait? Thanks for replies.

DOn't know that neck, might want to hit the Virginiaboard with the question, but Harbor Tackle number one, not far from the fishing, and Martins be second. Sadly, lately, stay away from Bucks, what they consider fresh, well, it AIn't!
Harbor tackle will tell ya exactly how old the bunker is, and honestly, that's why alot of people go there, and the fact that on occassions, been known to shoot down, just to sell some, with just a phone call. Honesty and customer service, HT is numero uno that neck, and when I can't get from Kool Ice on my way through Cambridge, well, stop there, buy bunker, and usually other toys to boot.
Have Jeep will travel :D

not sure what they carry but.......
there is a tackle shop in md, just over the va line on the southboud side of 13.
im assuming your taking 113 from pocomoke.
but if your going 50 there is a shop behind the mcdonalds in princess anne, and one just off the highway before you hit the bypass in eden.
both on the southbound side
you could also just slip up to harbor tackle in west oc

IMHO is any asian supermarket in town. Most sell spot and other bait fish fresh and cheap.

Where is Harbor Tackle?
I usually swing by Sue Foster's place in OC before hitting AI.

Thanks for the referrals. I meant to post on Va board, but I'm thinking I got the better answer here anyway! Harbor Tackle sounds great. Have not been to Hatteras since Labor Day and am seriously jonesing. Mother bought a place in Cape Charles so I am really wanting to explore AI, and fishing the barrier islands out of Oyster. Much to look forward too. THX, Ron

The place on the left side of Rt 13 near the state line is called Sea Hawk. They usually have fresh bait and knowledgeable counter help in my experience.
Good luck.

Yeah thanks. I will be heading North on 13 so I'll definitely give that a try. OC would be out of the way. Thought it was much closer to AI. Thanks

It is close to AI ... maybe 15-20 minutes. That is if you are going to the State/National parl on the maryland end of AI. If you are coming up 113 you'll be turning rt onto 376. Shortly you'll come upon 611. To the right takes you to AI to the left will be harbor tackle. From that spot you are maybe 10 minutes away from Harbor Tackle at most. Turn left on 611, look to your right ... when you see 'The Green Turtle' sports bar turn right at the next road (Holiday rd or something like that) HT is on your left down by the stop sign. They are excellent!

Fished Kitty Hawk at dawn. Saw some nice trout caught. Moved to Hatteras (Rodanthe) and fished with a buddy north of pier. Again saw some nice trout caught. Fished 23 after marking holes at low and got into 2-4lb blues on metal which was a blast. Between those and the nice roundhead bite I did well. I plan on fishing AI all thanksgiving weekend and can't wait to check it out. Thanks for all the info. Fine folks here. Damn water was 68 to 70 this weekend. Unreal
