Fished RP on 11/13 starting at 5:40 AM --

Very windy conditions (weatherman blew it)

Started throwing w/ an atom popper -- couldn't see the lure enough to work it well. After a few unsuccessful trials, switched to cut LY on a fish-finder. Still no bites.

Watched a fellow catch 2 shorts on a topwater. Switched to bass assassin on a lead-head and landed one short VERY close to shore.

Later, I switched back to LY and caught another short.

Total score = 4.5 hours fishing and 2 shorts.

there's any chance of it heating back up ? or, is it done for the season ?

If it is done for the season, when does it start to pick back up again ?

Just trying to learn about RP since it's fairly new to me.

Thanks,
Ex

Have you guys fish North Point State Park lately?

I remember going there a couple years ago in November just to check out the place. There were a couple guys at the very end of that concrete jetty wall pier thing catching stripers on every cast. They were using tandem fish finder rig with chicken liver. Most of the fish were small but I did see them catch a couple of about 18".

I fish from a kayak and have been wanting to check out that area. Maybe I will try it sometime soon.

i think rocky point is mostly just a fall place, excalibur, from what i hear.

fishingrod, blue heron and i fished northpoint once in the summer and all we got were panfish. that is the only time i've ever fished there.

I've caught some ROcks, a lot of spots and white perches... I talked to a ranger and he said there are good size croakers and bluefish too...

I always take what rangers say with a grain of salt. Rangers there also told me there were no carp in that part of the bay. Boy did I prove them wrong :)

For the rest of ya, give NPSP some time at different seasons and conditions. That jetty, especially the point and left side (walking out) can produce very nicely. The right side is extremely shallow and basiclly a down-tide bar almost high and dry at low tide. Don't forget the shoreline rip rap at high tide very early in the AM casting lures for stripers...they will retreat as the sun comes up. I really miss fishing at NP.

Any chance you'd do up one of your famous maps of NPSP -- kind of like the one you worked up for Belle Grove ?

That was really awesome.

Yea, I can do that no problem..sounds like a good winter project. Gotta get the updated Belle Grove back on line too. Gotta sketch of Carroll Island Power Plant bottom structure and spots in the notebook too, promised the carper guys ;) . My dad used to drop me off down there to fish before I could drive; still get there a couple times a year in winter to fish after all these years. Believe it or not there's a distinct "fishy" channel that runs through the area between the cables and the bridge by the plant.

When you get done w/ Carrol Island, please let me know. I'm still trying to figure out that place for carp.

What kind of changes are you putting on your Belle Grove update ?

Ex - add new shoreline dropdowns, update parking notes, extinct bank spots/new ones people have openned up...clean up the map a bit for more readable (I didn't have Photoshop when I did the first one) but its still just a sketch I've done in a notebook. Patapsco State Park has had a heavier hand in managing the area plus BGE has done some major clearing/cutting under the power lines in 2005.

Kid - Will do @ Carroll Island for the hardy bunch regardless of species. It can be hit-or-miss sometimes but when its hot its hot (no pun intended) and the place seems to bringout everybody; bellyboaters and waders cover some serious ground venturing around the point and down creek following the warm water. The Balto/DC/Mid Atlantic club carpers just lost a MAJOR warm water discharge in Alexandria on the Potomac so they're looking for green winter pastures to dunk baits so I'm sure Tommy and some others will be around more.

In 2006 I'm gonna try Board posting some days/weekends I'll be fishing in the Upper Bay western shore at Rocky Point, Belle Grove, North Point, CI...see if any P&S'ers can link up...it'd be nice to put some faces to names. 2005 has been too unpredictable with work and Balto family drama to do this. Most trips have been quickie one-offs when I visit family during the week but on three occassions in 2005 I pulled my bay jonboat and boat-chummed (and bank fished) Rocky Point like I've done in previous years prior to fishing for whatever bites.
