Hi dudes,
Glad ya'll enjoy my stories, can't make this stuff up.I was wondering, what is an FHB? & jam is right, almost 50.I work out every day,see a 24 year old, beautiful massage therepist every two weeks for a 2 hour rubdown & get 25 or so nerve block shots in my back & legs once a month, gotta love it.
After reading your threads,ya'll are blowin' it all out of proportion.Drivin' thru breakers is like ridin' a smooth lake to me.Just took years to get to that point. No more daring than drivin' a 2 lane road with drunk drivers comin' at ya.Bull Sharks don't care much for me but they love my stringers. If they swim up to ya ,they just turn away, doesnt do any good to run from them....thats why the stringers are out there,to keep em' happy :D
thx

Just returned from a few days on the island.Went out to the bar Friday & Saturday.Friday the wind was SW 20.After exploring the bar from Ocracoke to Portmouth front & back I landed on a small bar in front of the southern tip of Vera Cruz(about waist deep). There was a gap in the outer bar that could just cast to.Had 2 lines out as it was very rough & I had backlashed my third rod.Twenty min. later hooked up with a big drum.During the battle my other line took off!Finnaly catching & releasing the first drum(50 inch on a whole shrimp) I rebaited that rod & threw it back out.Went over to the second rod to bring in the other drum & while fighting him my first rod took off again!Caught both of them (44 inch).Called Norman on the radio to let him know.He arrived 1/2 hour later & anchored off the bar & caught two.
I was exhausted..looked back at the boat & it was full of water, gas tank floating out of the boat, coolers upside down, cans floating away!So I had to stop fishing, unanchor the boat & retreat back to the main bar.Took about 45 min. or so to bail the boat & coolers out & get everything shipshape.I still was not finished, rode around the end of the bar & drove right up the middle on top of it(the tide was almost in).Anchored Seapuppy again & walked out to the front of the bar & caught another big drum(46 inch).Finnaly I got run off that bar so decided to call it a day.Returned to the camper ate a good supper & died ..Mystic Warrior was whipped so bad she couldnt jump over the tounge of the boat trailer.
Saturday the wind was blowing SW25-30,very rough.Norman came out in the Rascal, talked to him on the radio,he said come on out,he'd be out there if I had any trouble.I launched Seapuppy again went out behind the bar & couldnt get up behind it,the water is so shallow & the tide was out too far.Had no other choice than to ride around the front to get to my friday spot.Breakers were at least 15 foot crashing into each other.Norman was anchored just outside the break(Hells Gate).stopped & talked to him a bit,we figured where I had to go thru to get in front of the bar.I shot thru the first set,got to the clear water up to my spot the day before, had to jump a second set,got up on top of one of the large waves & rode it all the way up onto the bar.grounded Seapuppy, anchored & threw 3 rods out. After about 1/2 hour caught two 30 & 35 inch yearlings.Called norman, told him to get over here.A little later a school of big drum came by & I had all three rods hooked up! Here we go again!By this point I was very tired from friday & early sat plus waist deep rough water.I could barely get the fish in!.Caught 2 of them(42,41 inch) ,the third got off just as I got to the rod.At that point it was alright with me,I was beat,..Fished a little while longer but my body was done so I had to pull Seapuppy about 3/4 mile across to the back of the bar, that took about an hour as it was shallow & I had to wait on each wave to pick it up a little to move further.Finnally got to the deep water & returned to the beach.Ate a couple pounds of shrimp with boiled taters & corn, kicked back in the truck & watched the nextel race.Mystic Warrior was so tired I had to pick her up & put her in the camper!
Sunday went by Tradewinds & registered the 6 citations.
Be back in two weeks in early May.Got one opening if anyone is interested. Also no one has commited to the third weekend in May(20-22) during the full moon weekend, should be lots of pups/yearlings up there by then.Should be RED HOT that weekend.
It's not a fishing trip.it's an adventure!
