Hey Everyone,
I'm going to be staying down in Frisco from Thursday to Sunday and I just have a couple questions. Is there a place to rent a Kayak down there? Is there a pier? Our house is gonna be on the soundside...whats good to fish for on the soundside right now? I'd appreciate any help I could get...even if you just clue me into a good bait and tackle shop down there I could call.
I appreciate it.

Well DD is the resident Frisco expert, but I'll take a stab at it until he gets around to answering your question for real.
I know that fox water sports in Buxton has yak rentals, & I believe that I've seen a couple other places up around avon or rodanthe.
There is definately a pier (Frisco pier), although I've nver actually been there.
There should be lots of stuff to catch in the sound now, trout, blues, & puppies, & flounder should all be available.
Now that I've thrown up my opinion, lets wait to get the real story from Drum Dum

Catch a calm day with the yak,use a double bucktail rig and get some grey trout outta the channels. Look for grassy areas with "cuts" odd currents and throw grubs or mirror lures for specks, and possible flounders.. That's soundside.. Frisco Pier has been catching some seamullet, but cobes are coming soon,so if you have "pinnin tackle" bring it.. ;)
I highly recommend Fox Watersports,a REAL FISHERMAN runs it and can help on ideas as well.. ;) Real Kites,in several locations, rents them as well..
The point and inlet are close as well.. Both have been catching seamullets,a few flounder, and some nice pups as well..

Has been there for a while.. The folks that run it are really nice people. Elderly man, coastguard retired and his wife.. Many times when you can't find cobe mullet in the fall, they seem to come up with it somehow... :D

Thanks for all the help fella's
Where is fox watersports? They rent yaks and might be able to give me some advice on fishing?
What is pinnin tackle? Sounds a little heavier than I have but I might look into it ...I appreciate all the help.

Head past Red Drum Tackle in Buxton,it's on your right, near Exon (which will be on your left across street).. Yeap,Ted's an excellent fisherman, and is always glad to help.. Pinning tackle is used to catch kings, cobes, jacks, tarpon,or any other big game fish that swims off the end of the pier.. Two rods are used, one for an anchor, and one to attach live bait and fight the fish with..

Hey Drum,
Thanks for the info and help. I'm gonna try to go out on Thursday and Friday. I've had some trouble finding good info online about pinning tackle. I've got 2 9' spinning rods with 17# test. I was going to tie up a 30-40# shock leader tied to a fishfinder rig with a 6oz weight. I was going to fish for some blues and croakers on my light spinning reel and then just hook em up on the fishfinder rig...what do you think? I'll be out on the pier Thursday and Friday, PM me if you have the time to head out and fish.
