Wind, waves, whitecaps, murky soup, let's see........there was wind, waves, oh yeah sorry. But the blues were still biting along with some choppers.
Yo, TB and FRML and all you other hearty fans:---KING MACKERAL SPOTTED ON END SKING A BLUE IN MID AIR. Not on a king rig, just cruising along I guess. No others, but next week could be the week. Later, purr...purr...purr...purr..kee kee...kee.kee...yelp,yelp....GOOOBBBBBLLLLLLLEE.

We missed you this AM, Mike, we whimped out & waited for the rain to pass, got out about 10:00. It was still pretty windy today, but not quite as bad as last couple afternoons.Your description of wind & waves is right on! All I could add is "chocolate milk" waves!
Today the water was more green than brown, still a little murky. Blues were sparse but off and on,Ray got a 16" spanish,Don got a 13.5" and we saw another guy with a small one. Not right for this time of year!,king rigs were'nt getting much action that we saw, a small black tip and a blue or two.
We enjoyed meeting fishrulemylife and thought he was doing great with a few keeper flounder. Even if we don't catch a bunch, it's always enjoyable being out there with nice folks.

I heard another story on the "king" jump, unless there was a second sighting that day. The story I heard was that a few pluggers noticed some bluefish jumping and were being chased and stated there might be a king after them. From there it multiplied....I don't guess that ever happens with fishing. My brother will call me and tell me he caught a pinfish and by the end of the conversation, I'd think it was a 50lb King with the way it was a pullin, and stripping line, and how it hit so hard....amazing:)

Good to see you again Don&Nancy. Hopefully, I will go back next weekend depending on conditions. BTW Old Lucky, the king I saw was not the one the pluggers saw. Nancy gave me the tip on that one not long after it happened. One flashing and one sking are 2 different things. He was about 100 yrds off the end as I was leaving. Wish we could have seen the size of that huge brown toothy crider that hit Paul's friend's bait...100lbs. was probably on the weak side. Look forward to seeing everyone soon. Anyone fishing next weekend????
DD: When those kings sky how do they gracefully dive back in like a 10 at the Olympics?? Ha, Ha

Yes quite a difference....Heard some reports of some leg size Spanish from 6 to 11ish this morning. Please don't reply if there is any truth to this. I don't think my boss will buy the ole I must leave for a few days for personal reasons story again. Nevermind tell!!! ARE THE SPAINISH THERE?!

Saturday 5/20,
I got caught in the rain in the morning and from the radar in the pier house I almost packed it up, but decided to wait a little longer and eventually around 10am the rain passed. Caught a total of 4 flounder, 3 keepers and 1 throw back. All caught on cut bluefish strips. Stayed a little later than usual and fished until 11pm right up until it started raining again. Caught a few 2-3' black tip sharks but that was about it. Every thing seemed really slow.
Was a pleasure meeting donancy and also got to meet another gentleman CrazyTed, he apparently used to fish with Depe back in the day. Hope to see ya'll soon. Memorial Day weekend is hopefully going to be good....I'm going stiper fishing up in CT, I'll be sure to report on how that goes.

K&S, thanks for the tips man, as you can see they helped. I'm starting to understand them flatties more and more. Hopefully I get a nice one sometime later this season ;) .

Yep, understanding them flounders is a science on a pier. Tides, bait, presentation, the whole nine yards. It is worse than bass fishing. Then again, some folks go out and catch a limit in an hour. Go figure....

But we're planning the next two weekends in June, hope we catch up with you again, and really hope to connect with some decent spanish.
It's nice & warm now, hope the water is warming & clearing. Hope you guys just drive us nuts with good reports this weekend!

Since I'm going to CT this weekend I've been trying to keep up with the reports up there. There are reports of schooly stripers between 16-22 inches and my dad said he's received some first hand reports of 40+ inch stripers in the rivers. I also read that the winter flounder are still around and the ones being caught are fairly good sized along with some decent weak fish and a few scattered blues.
K&S I'm gonna have to put the new flattie skills to the test and see if I can get a couple.
I keep having to remind myself that this trip up north isn't supposed to be a "fishing trip", but what's the fun in that:D :D :D .
I hope I get back home to see someone at the JR caught a big cobia or a king. Good luck ya'll and Happy Memorial Day
