Yeap, that helps.. BUT so does any east wind here in Hat at least for livebaiting.. Aside from a few species,I'm not big on moon phases for kings.. Has been said that on a full moon phase the kings feed more at night, but have caught plenty of kings from the planks in the daylight on a full moon.. I've heard PL has kept a log on plankin,so he's probably got all that moon phase stuff dialed in and knows exactly what he is talking about..

That's great ya'll are catching em. Send some north!!

Too bad you can't eat them...Not that king is on every french menu. But they are good if cooked right, like fried in small chunks or on the grill. I wish they would put up a new rule on kings now-use circle hooks, barbless hooks, cut down on the limit, etc. since they are poisoned with mercury (I think the very small ones are ok I hear).

I know what you are thinking..How can I catch a king on circle hooks, they die anyway if they run 350 yards, can't hook up as many, etc. I say this because of not being able to eat them and helping the species do well. Let's hope the boaters release some now.

..I use to fish Jollys..and except for a pogy school..the big fish always showed up on a major moon phase..
..give me 2 day before the phase, to the phase, and If I don't catch one..i bet I see someone who did!!

..Now ya'll look at your calendars..or go outside at night, and tell me what the moon phase is, and what is going on on the piers and even up at the point!!..
..yep there's some speckled trout around Jollys right now too...early in the mornings...and some pompano..right behind the south side bar..

Well, with weather forcast having strong sw winds here in Hat for the next two days it will look like a mudhole, nothing will be caught but a few bluefish, maybe a drum or two and some skates.. Sunday, there is suppose to be a dropout in the winds switching to n,could be some action after that,at least in the boats here... Moon phase may have something to do with it,but the weather ain't helpin this weekend...

Has been for quite some time. They are full of mercury. I like them grilled but I won't eat one over 20lbs. Less than ten are the best and safest.

Under three feet is the recommended safe level. I've eaten meat from several over that and I'm not dead yet....or so the voices tell me.

the levels of mercury are so low in the larger kings, that you would have to eat a few hundred pounds before it would start messin with you..... BUt the snakes do taste better....
