Well, decided to take a few frozen shrimp under Dunlawton Bridge this evening, and fished from the public dock beachside. I caught a strange mix, to say the least. I was there about 1 hr before high tide and hooked into a ray that had about a 2 ft wingspan and almost spooled me, but I managed to get it back in and got the hook out. Caught two more shortly thereafter, only smaller. Next, I caught a sea robin, a bonnethead about 20" long, a blue that went a whopping 18", a catfish that was near 3 lbs, 4 nice whiting, a small trout about 12 inches, 2 nice croaker about 14", a pinfish that went about 6 inches, and another small ray that was only about 10" across. The strange thing about that stingray, however, was that while reeling it in, something hit its tail and left only about a 1 inch stub. Never had that happen with a ray before and I've never caught that many different species in one outing. Sure was interesting. Now if I could just hook one of those snook that Kodiak Zack lost, it'll be worth it. I thought about tossing the shrimp and hooking up a jig with a plastic grub tail, but then thought better of it since I only had one rod with me and it was a little too dark to see to rig up. Besides, I was curious to see what weirdo sorta fish I'd pull up next. Regardless, I had a lot of fun and obviously stayed up too late on a worknight. All tolled, I stopped at the dock about 6 PM and left about midnight.:D
