I was surf fishing just north of the Sebastian Inlet when a guy yells hey its a Bonefish.. Shows his buddy and holds it up for us to see. From far it looked like a bone fish.. but then again it could have been a pale red or whiting..? I talked to the guy after but did not think he was full of B.S. He and his buddy believed it was a bonefish... Can you catch one this far north??
He caught it on a sand flea... with pompano rig..

Not common but not impossible either;)

Yeah it isn't impossible, but quite unlikely.
Maybe a striped mullet? You occasionally catch them on colorful stuff like pomp rigs even though they only eat bugs and plankton.

One June back in the late 90's we caught about 6 or 7 during our 10 day stay.

I remember on the FS boards that there were several Bonefish caught at Canaveral last year... so yes it's possible.

Heck, we catch tripletail off Sunglow and they supposedly only come as far north as Canaveral ;)

I've seen tripletail caught off South Carolina and there's a good fishery for them off Savannah and Jekyll Island too.

I remember seeing somewhere about a bonefish being caught in NC. Also remember seeing something about seacow/manatee's in NC too.....love how mother nature never ceases to amaze us.
