Just wanted to hear some opinons on old Joe's comments about Ricky Williams playing in the CFL for Toronto.
The quote was "I am embarrassed to have worn that 'A' on my helmet, to think that they would stoop to this level to sell tickets, to bring in someone who is not worthy of playing professional football. He has insulted professional football players, he has insulted professional football, he has been suspended from the National Football League, he doesn't want to play, he's going to a place where his value will be limited,All that said, Ricky is not a bad kid - he's just done bad things to a sport that I love. And it's a damn shame that the Toronto Argonauts would not show a lot more class and pass on somebody who has been a repeat drug offender. To me, it's an insult to guys who put on the uniform."
Not sure if Joe made the comment to increase his exposure due to the fact he will be the new color analyst for MNF, but Im not sure if he was right or wrong to say what he did. One could argue that singing Ricky is saying it's ok to use illegal substances, or, one could say that the man has a right to earn a living and that we can't stop him from playing in anthor country. Now as a Skins fan myself I like Joe but I didnt see Joe making comments about one of the best DE's ever in Dextor Manley who had a problem with the white powder, not the kind on doughnuts either.
Where were these comments 6 weeks ago when the deal making began. Its not like this wasnt out there the whole thing was transperant. There are alot of other players that have done worse, like murder that are still playing somewhere? Whats you guy's take?
