Just got in the house... it was a great weekend, enjoy every moment of fishing, drinking, chit chatting w/ all the great company and good friends..

thanks to NTKG for yakking the bait out... I got myself a 45" (fl) this morning around 6:30.am... caught on half cob mullets... the intension was for cobia, but the result is not disappointment.. Fisherman has the pictures, and hopefully he'll post it soon..

one note.. you small AC guys better hit the gym and eat your wheaties, one guy can't land a seamullets, the other guy fight a ray on his knees.. I'm not going to tell who did what...

well there were 6 baits were yakked out, all bunkers, so i decided to put on something diff, a cob mullet got me that drum... better be lucky than good ... I guess.. at least I found out one thing, them carhood rays don't bother the cob mullets at all compare to the other baits.

Teo, how did you rig up the cob mullets, did you use the treble, stinger hook, or single hook 'em?

drum rigs style with 14oz of lead..with a little only leader by everyone else... I was too lazy to redo the long one so I put on a short one.. .. I would recommend using circle hook, there's no way you can set the hook when your pait is 400 yards out..

Good deal. I'll keep that in mind along with the hook size. 14oz would bust my $ss trying to throw anywho...must have been the QE II that towed that bait out... :p

What kinda reels you guys using to hold that much line. Figure 400 yards out then have to have a couple hundred yards to fight the fish (just in case you get one of those big cobes and he wants a little line :D) so I know you are not using your basic surf casting conventionals like a mag 525 slosh 30 Abu c3ct or similiar reel.

Thanks in advance

That's a good question Ken. I was assuming Teo was throwing with the 525 Mag. Might have to find out, then again, he may have some PP backing under his mono that he's using to get extra line on....

And you wonder why I have too much tackle? I'm just covering all the basis, so in the time of need I would have it handy. I used a TLD25 with like 30lb or 40lb test on surf rods, i can't remember. My peers were using TLD15 with about 600 yards of braided and top shot the rest w/ 60lbs mono.
