Out and about yesterday at Fort Fisher. Sharks and Horse Flies are still the story. A few seamullet along the beach but you got to get through the biters, both big and very small.
Highlight of the day yesterday was the Huge Tiger Shark floundering in the surf in a low tide rip. It tried to swim into the rip feeding and almost couldn't get turned around. I had one bite off a little later on in the morning but dont think it was the tiger. I saw one small cobia caught from the surf a few days ago, but well undersize. It was a first for me to even see that at Fort Fisher.

The North End of CB, its pretty much shoaled in all around the point. If fishing, expect to do a long wade to get to any deep water out towards the ocean in the channel. The channel is only about eight feet deep right now. there is deeper water on the inside towards the intercoastal but youll have to squeeze in between the crowds.

The piers are really getting in on the action with kings, blues, spanish and cobia for the people on the end.

Water is warm enough to swim in now.....

That tiger sounds like a good un. I'm still trying to get the back into order. I can't wait to get back down there.

Nope. nothing about masonboro. I havn't actually fished over there in a few years myself. If im going to go through the trouble of loading the boat and all. I just go off shore I guess.

I just talked to another friend of mine today....if your in to the Cobia around here, seems to be the Jetties at WB or any near shore wreck..however, Ive heard they were a little finicky at times....

I may actually break down and buy some wire for sharking. ive never targeted them, but the way they are....they drum rigs arent going to keep holding up anymore than they do....

For your reports, very helpful.. Mainly because there aren't as many reports from down south as OBX,and there ARE PLENTY of fish to be had down that way.. ;) :)

Firespyder I am not very familiar with the oak Island. I started last year @ LB pier and now I vist OCP. I have a buddy who likes fishing jetties, can you give me some guidance as to where I would need to go.

Thanks, Tightlines

You familiar with Wrightsville Beach? THey have a set of Jetties protecting the inlet at the south end of the island. You can walk in the water there to snorkle/dive. Just have to find parking...Oh, fishing there isntr to bad either, espeacially in the fall. Visit any local dive shop and they will hook you,,,,er, hook you up with what you need. (smiling) Mainly, a mask, snorkle, fins, and a spear. start visiting a few dive websites and get some more info, or ask anything of me as well.
Also, wrightsville beach has a couple of piers, and they are doing very well in the cobia department right now.
(lookout for the tarpon in the fall here......)
