Spent a fun day at the Ft. Clinch Pier, in an attempt to catch flounder. Tried mud minnows and Gulp! Shrimp, but no flounders were willing....What was willing were two Small Jack Crevalle, both about 15", and they bit mud minnows, and set my light spinner to SINGING!
Hard pulling fish, those jacks...
I also had a rod out on bottom with shrimp, squid, cut pogies, and cut mullet...Tried it ALL and only ended up with two searobins for my effort, and they are strange looking critters.
I did manage to cast net some mullet, so I'll have bait for a while. They were steady coming by the pier, in little pods, so I got in some net practice!
Made a new fishin' buddy, goes by Surffish on the boards, a very good fellow, who was nice enough to show me around the fishing spots on Amelia Island/Fernandina....Thanks, Jim, I appreciate the tour! ;)
