So I decided I wanted to fish at the world famous SUNGLOW PIER in S. Daytona Shores yesterday. I called up there for a report, and they told me nobody was catching anything. I asked if any of my buddies were there and they said no. If my bud's are there and not catching, then there are likely no fish. But if a bunch of tourists are there and not catching.... well that doesn't mean anything :D
So I went there loaded up with a couple dozen live shrimp, and my buddy brought 5 fat mud minnows, 4 little blue crabs, and 1 tiny pigfish that was about an inch long.
I nailed some Flounder in the first hour, the biggest went about 20 inches and almost 1.5 inches thick. For whatever reason, I didn't get any pics of the Flounder like I normally do (at least before they were cooked). Then I busted a nice little black drum... didn't measure him but we did eat him. I think it was because I drank beer yesterday, which is something I haven't been hardly doing at all lately... but I didn't measure the big ones like I normally do... I just knew they were slot so I threw em in the bucket. Here's the drum:

Well everyone started crowding around when I started catchin fish, and then my shrimp started to disappear from letting friends use them. Tourists were everywhere watching.. waitin for the next fish. Shrimp were gone, we were down to the last mud minnow, and the micro pigfish. I let the last mud minnow jump out of my hands over the railing
So then I scoop the only pigfish, and me and my buds debated for a minute how best to hook him. Finally we decided on the back so I hooked him up and threw him over. Literally 3 seconds later, I hooked into the largest fish I have ever hooked into at the pier. It had to be over 50-lbs and was trucking drag non-stop. Line was peeling off like melting butter. I only got him to slow once, which allowed for about 3-4 cranks. By this time the (I'm assuming Big Red) was clear out the other side of the pier and half way to Ormond heading North. Oddly enough, he snapped my power pro, not my leader. 5 Minutes later I repeated the episode when my wife brought more shrimp, this time the leader broke. After that, the window closed and the bites were gone cuz it got dark.
Paid Justin $5 to filet my fish cuz I was too lazy, then had the restaurant on the pier [Crabby Joe's] fry it up. We all enjoyed the fresh fish... here's a pic of the meal: 4 Flounders and a 6 to 8-lb black drum:

Also, busted some trout a couple nights before at the flat bridge:
