Fished around Fernandina and Ft. Clinch today, and I must say it started off SLOW...I started early at a flounder hole on Egan's creek. I caught one short flounder, and a keeper black sea bass on a Gulp! shrimp.
Next stop was the jetties behind Ft. Clinch, throwing the Gulp!'s and mud minnows, lost a few rigs, but all I caught there was a BIG horseshoe crab, toting another on his back...Guess I interrupted them in the heat of passion....
The third stop was at the Ft. Clinch Pier, where I met up with Surf Fish, and while I was waiting on him, I threw the Gulp!'s again, and got one good bite, but lost him. Never saw the fish, but I'm guessin it was a flattie.
Surf Fish arrived and we threw out a couple of bottom rigged rods and began the flounder quest again, up and down the pier. We caught a nice whiting and a couple of small sharks on the bottom. The water began to clear up on the last part of the outgoing and the flatties began to bite...I caught three more, all keepers, on minnows. Surf Fish had some kind of well guarded secret lure he says he designed, and was catching fish as well. He wouldn't let me get hold of his "Flounder Pounder", but it had some sort of spinner, and what looked like buck tail hair. I do know that he was putting strips of mullet on as a trailer.
I left at about 4:15p for home and left my three keepers with Jim, for putting me on the fish. Here's some pics...

All in all, a good day, and I'm catching on to this Flounder thing....
