The Redneck Connection came up empty after a hard day of flounderin' and surf fishin'...Myself and BartyB hit Nassau Sound, Lil' Talbot Island, and some old fish camp on the South side of St. George Inlet. We fished hard, but It was not our day.....Bart caught one retarded pompano, and a short flounder. Yours truly toted the skunk.:--|
I enjoyed the day, nonetheless, as conditions were absolutely beautiful, with clean water, light breeze, mild temps, and good company.:)
A GREAT day for fishing, but the fish just didn't know it!
I remain pompano-less....

Does a Retarded Pompano taste like a smart Pompano?:D

Bluegills? Watch out for the gators!
Railroader, don't feel too bad about missin' the pomps. Last weekend I was out on the Ft Clinch pier with my 3 little girls, participating in the FWC kids' fishing clinic. After about 20 minutes of soaking their shrimp without a bite, the whines of, "I'm hungry;" "I'm thirsty;" "I want a hot dog" etc. started up. So, I reeled in all thier gear and started to herd them all back to shore for some lunch. Just as we start to walk away, this lady & her son who were fishing right next to us, reels in a MONSTER POMPANO on her kid's reel.
This was a catch-n-release event, too. I went home and banged my head on the wall for an hour... :--|
