Stopped by to see what was goin on today and wow..I was ready to start a tantrum like a little kid:( Strong western winds are kicken everything up. Muddy and about 7 foot swells arent exactly great for kingfishing:(

Well maybe some flounder will be around tmrw. Ill be out there muddy or clear bright and early tmrw, see you guys out there:)

Mr B caught one last Monday,30lbs 3ozs. I was down for over 2 weeks and only fished 2 times. The water the first 10 days looked like a mud hole and there were no sea birds around at all! Then 4 days of lovely water, clear, blue and warm. Mr B caught his the first day of this water, I fished the second day without a fish, although we did see a LOT of spinners, and hooked up with a few. Then missed the 3rd and 4th day doing preplanned stuff. I went the day after and fished in a mud hole. Fished the surf and couldn't find a bite! Ain't many fish in that thar' sea any more...AHHRRRGG!

damn 7 kings! Hopefully apache will match that this week. I left the water today right as it was changing into the clearest Ive seen in awhile. The wind is blowing clearer water in and I just hope it will keep blowing through the night and I will wake up to clear blue king waters.

More importantly the report for today wasnt bad as far as the king rigs went. I had one run early in the morning, but right as I picked up the rod he stopped. I reeled, and he was still there and I went to set the hook, and before I could he was gone. If we hadnt had a bait catastrophe I think we would of done better earlier. Tomorrow should be ok if the winds stay favorable:D

Water was beautiful today, the best it has been all week. Yesturday the water was ok, and I had one run on the king rig, and landed a spanish that was close to 7 pounds:D :D . Today with the clear water, there were silver sides everywhere most of the day. There were 7 or 8 schools of menhaden that went through in the morning also. I got one run on the rig today which was a blue at about 16 or 18 inches, but he didnt even pop the clip and I left him out there as king bait. Everything I caught was on ribbonfish, so i think I will stick to that for the restof the week:D

Ill be on the pier for the rest of the week and report:D

Caught another spanish today at 4 pounds 9 ounces..shoulda weighed in the first one:( Water wasnt as clear as it was yesturday. Alot of bait has been around, saw some sea trout early, including one huge one flouting around the pilings. Also saw the biggest whiting I have seen caught of apache today, by some little kid:D Hopefully a king will come in the next two days..

Screamindrag is a very nice, methodical, knowledgeable young fisherman. In 24 hours on the pier I caught one 12 inch shark 6 times (at least it looked like the same shark. I gave up early Thursday and went down about 250 yards south on the beach and tossed an ultralight with a shrimp at a break in the tide where no one was swimming yet. I caught 2 NICE sea trout (bigger than the sharks) in less than 10 minutes. The second got me a standing ovation from the beach crowd! When I went back out, a couple of guys on boogie boards came out beside me and TWEEEET! Life guard chased me out, no fishing 100 feet from swimmers. How about no swimming 100 feet from fishermen? I was mad. All in all I did not like coming to the beach in July, way to crowded!. I'll be back in October.
