Fished from 3pm-10pm w/ artificials... sightcasted, trolled, even hopped out for a bit and fished with a friend that was on the rocks... total was small croaker, small seabass, and one small flounder. I lost a nice fish near the island, got 3 cranks on him and he shook the hook...oh well. Lots of bait and lots of action. I got to watch striper rip through a school of mullet or bunker near the police docks... just couldn't get 'em to bite the fake stuff... also saw alot of what looked like greys or blues flying out of the water on the clouds of bait back there. Fishing was slow, but all and all a good night for a paddle.

Rockstar, do you put in at the boat landing next to the Museum?

i might have to try some night fishing myself. should be cooler if nothing else. we got a ton of ladyfish around here under the dock lights this time of year but no stripers like you've got.

anyone use those portable nav lights they sell at walmart and boaters world? just wondering how they hold up against salt and that kinda stuff.

Cdog... sure do, I rig up on the far left ramp... nobody gives me any grief. I mostly see paddlers and small boats launch from here so I am guessing it's OK.

Ryan I wouldn't worry about nav lights, "Caught Myself" enlightened me a bit on them in my "stern light" thread. I use a stern light and cheapo headlamp... worked great for me.

One more thing, I know you use the redfish magic spinnerbaits alot... how do you fish them? I trolled a 1/8oz. elec. chicken with little success. What other lures do you have success with when fishin' for pups? As of late I have been targetting them with spinnerbaits, yo zuri crystal minnow, gold trout killers, DOA terroreyez, and berkley gulp 'swimmin mullet' color. Thanks for any insight.

with the spinnerbaits i'll usually let it sink to the bottom and then crawl it along just fast enough to feel the blade thumping. also a stop and go retrieve will sometimes get them fired up. try taking the strike king tail off and replacing with a gulp 3" pogy too. once you find the fish and they're tearing up your gulps go back to the strike king to save money.

other lures that are good:
-gulp skrimp on a jighead
-gold spoon
-rapala skitterwalk
-spro bucktail tipped with fishbites
-LIVE BAIT!
