Fishing was pretty slow at IRI. Fished for tog's from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Extremely slow, alot of small tog's and tiny sea bass hitting your bait. Occasionally saw a 12 incher brought in. Absolutely no keepers. There were about thirty people togging on the south side. I did see a few people catching 15" blues on gotcha's and bucktails. And one gentleman did manage a 37" rocky off of bucktail and white worm combo.

Extremely dissatisfied fishing at IRI. My brother and I decided to head over to AI. My first time off-roading on the beach. Pretty cool!!!!! We drove down about 2 miles on the beach before getting situated. It was safe to say that the beach was pretty packed. Threw 4 heavers out hoping to catch anything. Managed 1 15" sand shark, 1 ugly fish (stingray), 1 kingfish, & 1 spot. All brought in between 4:00pm - 9:00 pm. Pretty darn slow..

I couple of cool notes.

I guy pulled in next to us around 8:00pm and wiped out the heavy artillery. Short stiff baitcaster with 100 lb powerpro, 200lb steel leader, and 20/0 circle hooks. And for bait? 2 lb bluefish. (Oh... And I forgot to mention the kayak) He was going for something big and this is the first time I ever witnessed yak fishing. Bait was out in the water around 8:30pm and it didn't take long for the first hit. It wasn't a monster, but it was something different. After fighting the fish for about 10 minutes, he reeled in a 42" sand tiger. The teeth on that thing was nasty.

Just before the sun went down. My brother noticed something strange were the waves were breaking. There were thousand and thousands of sand fleas on top of the wet sand. There were so many fleas that if you stood on top of them, you could feel the sand moving beneath you. Fishing wasn't great but we did manage to catch about $50 worth of sand fleas in 15 minutes.

Great report Jungfish. would of been nice to have been able to join you even though you did'nt catch much. Freeze them sand fleas and lets take a venture up to NJ at Belmar and use them puppies at the inlet.
