I saw a pic someplace where the dude had maybe a foot long piece of one of those pool noodles around his fishing rod (between the reel and the first eye). I'm guessing this was have it float in the event of a dump...anyone ever try it???

Personally I think it would get in the way... I just use detachable clip leashes on my rods... they work fine and if they get in the way they're easy to unclip. I have slivered sections of pool noodle with my fillet knife to float electronics bags though. Works great.

rod leashes, knife leashes, paddle leashes, boga grip leashes....easiest to make em....

go to dollar store, buy a couple 25 foot phone cords ( the spirally kind) ( i buy the black ones for looks:cool: ) cut them into 2 or 3 equal pieces... then fold over the ends making a loop and whip finish (use mono or black floss) coat threads with head cement and use large weight clips on the ends to clip to carabeener or straight to rodholder, crate, etc... super cheap, work great, and are plenty strong.:)

I bought them at www.kayakfishingstuff.com but linstad's idea sounds great... ALOT cheaper too. I like the coiled leashes because they stays out of the way and hooks don't get stuck in 'em. I believe my leashes air made by SEAAIRSPORTS.
