I need suggestions on where to fish this weekend? The tank, SPSP, IRI, 3'rd it doesn't matter as long I can catch some fish. I'll be gathering a long with a friend and two sergeants who just came back from Iraq and they are hungry for some eastern shore fish so I don't have to dissapointment them. What's choptank producing these days, any other suggestions...

Fished the Choptank Pier overnight last Saturday/Sunday. Started at sunset (around 9:30), using bait shrimp, squid and bloodworms as bait. Had catfish biting constantly on squid, some good size spot and perch were active until about 1:30. Lost two end tackle rigs to stingrays (one must have been over 100 lbs, it broke a 50 lbs test braid). Mostly catfish overnight, and then starting at about 4:30 a variety of fish came out for breakfast -- spot and perch up to 10" hitting bloodworms faster than I could pull them out. One crazy eel decided to try some squid and got himself into major trouble. A number of smaller stripers (5-8") were thrown back into water, two stray bluefish (one small, one ~13") and a number of catfish again (gave them away to a familty fishing at next light). Became dead after 11:30 am or so. All-in-all, one of better experiences I've ever had at Choptank.

Afraid this week's heat will chase all sensible fish away to deeper water, but might try going out early Sunday again.

Cheers, Andrew.

My choice would definitely be the Tank. With the warm water (85*) you can always get into deeper and cooler water. Personally I enjoy catching catfish which is usually a sure bite no matter how hot it gets. Overall your chances of catching a varity of fish are better there. Good luck where ever you decide to fish.:)

It all depends on what you want. If you
want to stay close and catch a bunch
of panfish (spot, white perch, etc) I would
recommend one of the headboats out of
Kent Narrows. + short drive, good price,
lots of fish.

If you want to venture a little further than
I would try one of the headboats out
of the Lewes Fishing Center in DE.
They are HAMMERING big croaker
out there right now. + good price and
lots of fish. - Longer drive (about 2 hrs)

If you want to fish from shore than I guess
the Tank is a good bet from what the other
guys have said. In your initial post you
said that catching fish was your main
concern and boats have a HUGE advantage
right now vs fishing from shore.

...what do you think about the Solomon's pier?

:)

Also, do you know of any shoreline access to any of the feeder creeks in the area? I hear they are slammin' BIG perch in them.

Thanks,

Thanks,

The spot and perch are in the potomac
real thick so that whole area should
be doing well. I mainly fish the pier
on the navy rec center which is right
next to the public pier and I have always
done very well when they are in. It just
gets too crowded for my tastes. I am not familiar with the creeks up that way. I
would just talk to Ken Lamb at the Tackle
Box as he seems to specialize in that type
of fishing. I want to head up that way to
catch a stringer of slab bluegills out of
St Mary's Lake....;)

I'm down to two spots left Choptank and Point Lookout. Solomons is out of the question. There's areas where are restricted and I don't know my way around there.

Three out of four of us wants to head to PointLook out but we heard things are getting worst - Haunted - you know; the same story... thing are getting very creepy at night they say, again...

Maybe the tank even though I'm hesitant because I haven't seen enough reports.

Sharks are around at AI for the taking. They are catching kingfish along the DE surf too...

As always, stripers at IRI - fish the jetties at night...
