Got me a new yak yesterday afternoon(Tarpon 140) and took it out last night to give it a try. First thing I noticed was all the water in the cockpit, much more then the 120, time to plug up the holes. Other then that a great ride, like night and day compared to the 120. Anyway, plan was to jig for flounder, but there were so many stripers and blues in the water it was hard to get the jigs down before they were swallowed up. Caught a few nice croaker, kept one that went 16" and caught 3 flounder(14,15,17.5). Kept the 17.5 one on a stringer along with the croaker and when I pulled the stringer in to head back I only had half a flounder, clean bite right in half(any ideas?) I didn't know there were sharks that big that far up the bay. Also, if anybody has any ideas to keep that from happening again I would love to here it.

Surprised you didn't feel it. If not a Shark might have been a BIIIIG Blue.

I like that, Ryan. Rig some trailer hooks on your stringer and maybe catch some big ones. You're always thinking, man. However, I would use 40 lb. test or lighter in case it's the really big one.

if you put a hook in it make sure the stringer is attached to a reel and not your yak!!

I plan on being out there tommorow night, I want some revenge. I never really see many people out there this time of year and I usually fish there 2 times a week. Tuesday night never saw a single boat in 4 hours and the fishing has been really good. Also, I never felt anything pulling on the stringer and I don't use an anchor, I just drift and the fish were maybe a foot under the boat while drifting. I guess with all the water I have in the cockpit I can use it as a livewell now:)

I put mine on a long stringer and just sling it in the back of the tankwell behind my crate. You ought to be able to do that in that T 14, it has a huge tankwell. The only time I let my fish swim around on a stringer is in the fall with striper. I figure there is much less chance of a shark being around when the water is cold. I had a flounder get bit in half just like that this summer. Makes you think......
